This Privacy Policy outlines how SoundSlumber operates, what data is processed locally on your device, our data retention practices, and your rights regarding your information.
By using SoundSlumber, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Process & How It Is Used
SoundSlumber is built with a privacy-first, offline-first architecture. We do not collect, harvest, or transmit your personal identifiable information (PII) to external servers.
A. Local Storage & Playback Data (On-Device Room Database)
- Listening History & Usage Metrics: SoundSlumber tracks listening duration, session counts, and played audio tracks locally using an on-device Room database. This data is used exclusively to populate your personal Sleep Sound Dashboard, provide insights, and calculate smart suggestions (such as update recommendations based on milestone usage).
- Mix Presets & Audio Settings: Custom sound combinations, individual track volume levels, master volume caps, and background visual associations are stored locally on your device.
- App Preferences: Settings such as dark theme schedules and custom sleep timer presets are saved exclusively on-device.
B. Device Permissions & System Features
- Audio & Foreground Service: Required for continuous ambient sound playback, background execution during sleep sessions, and volume attenuation (fade-out sleep timer).
- System Time & Clock: Used locally to sync low-light display modes (such as Night Amber Mode) with system sunset and sunrise times to reduce blue light exposure.
3. Data Transmission & Third-Party Sharing
- No Server-Side Collection or Storage of Personal Data: We do not collect, transmit, store, or maintain user personal data on external servers or cloud databases.
- No Selling of Personal Data: We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetarily exchange your personal data or listening history with third parties or advertising brokers.
- Google Play Services & Crash Reporting: If distributed via the Google Play Store, standard platform SDKs (such as Google Play Services or Firebase Crashlytics for non-identifying crash logs) may process aggregated technical device diagnostics in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
4. AI-Generated Content & Disclosures
SoundSlumber utilizes generative AI capabilities (such as Imagen) to create calming background visuals for saved Mix Presets. All generated visual assets are rendered strictly for personal in-app visual identity and do not harvest, store, or send user personal data.
5. Data Retention Policy & Practices
Explicit Retention Policy: We do not retain or store user personal data on external servers. All user data is stored locally on the user's device and exists only as long as the application remains installed.
- No Remote Server Retention: We do not store or retain any personal user data on remote servers or cloud systems.
- Local Data Retention Period: All user-generated data (including listening history, sleep stats, mix presets, and preferences) is stored locally on your device's internal storage. This data is retained only for as long as:
- The SoundSlumber application remains installed on your device, or
- Until you manually delete the data or clear the application storage.
- Automatic Deletion on App Removal: When you uninstall SoundSlumber, all locally stored databases, presets, logs, and cache files are immediately and permanently erased from your device by the operating system.
6. User Data Control & Deletion Instructions
You have complete control over all data generated within SoundSlumber:
- In-App Management: You can modify, overwrite, or delete saved Mix Presets and clear session logs directly within the app interface.
- Complete Data Erasure: You can permanently delete all app data at any time through either of the following methods:
- Via Device Settings: Navigate to
Settings > Apps > SoundSlumber > Storage > Clear Data / Clear Storage. - Via App Uninstall: Uninstalling the app permanently erases the local Room database and all associated preferences.

7. Children’s Privacy
SoundSlumber is a general-audience ambient audio companion. It does not collect or solicit personal identifying information from children under 13 years of age, nor does it require online account creation.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to align with new features or regulatory requirements (including Google Play Developer Policies). Any updates will be reflected with a revised "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
